Sara Ali Khan’s Latest Patriotic Movie Gets Release Date and More

Indian filmmaker, Karan Johar, has announced that the most awaited fictional tale movie, ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’, starring Sara Ali Khan, is all set to release on March 21, 2024. The final release date was revealed on World Radio Day, 13th of February, to hint at the connection between the movie and radio. This movie was directed by Kannan Iyer and written by Darab Farooqui and Iyer.
The upcoming highly anticipated movie, ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’, is a historical thriller-drama based on the Indian freedom struggle, starring Sara Ali Khan, who will be playing the lead role, together with Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Alex O’Neil, Sparsh Shrivastav, Bene’t Lynton, and Anand Tiwari. It is reported that Emraan Hashmi will be appearing in a special cameo role in this movie.
Karan shared the motion picture of the movie on his social media announcing the release date of the upcoming OTT film. He added, “Hindustan mein kahi se laaye hai aap ke liye ek zaroori samachar #WorldRadioDay pe.”
Sara Ali Khan was recently seen in the hit film, ‘Zara Htake Zara Bachke’, and she will be playing one of the most influential roles in her next movie as a young revolutionary icon. Sara will play the character of Usha Mehta, a real-life freedom fighter, who will set up the congress radio during the Quit India Movement in 1942.
The first-look poster of the movie shows a clip of Sara Ali Khan in front of a radio mic, introducing herself as Usha. She also uploaded this on her Instagram page with the caption “Desh ki kahaani, Usha ki zubaani World Radio Day par!#Ae Watan Mere Watan Prime, Mar 21 only on @primevideoin”.
In the motion poster, the voice-over of Sara Ali Khan can be heard saying, “Tayyar ho jaye Angrezo se azadi ki akhri ladai ke liye. Main hoon Usha aur yeh hai desh ka radio (Get ready for the final battle for freedom from the British. I am Usha and this is the country’s radio).”
Sara Ali Khan had earlier shared her experience about working on this movie and announced that she would be taking a role that is extremely different from other roles that she has done before. According to the young actress, Usha is going to be a challenging character for her, and she needs to work hard to bring forward the raw emotions of the character to the screen. She is reportedly said to be super excited to play the role of a freedom fighter in this movie.
This Hindi movie, which is based on a real-life freedom fighter, will be dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Karan Johar shared a statement about the movie and stated that Dharmatic Entertainment has always taken pride in bringing the best stories that are told from the heart. Sara’s portrayal in this story has a strong emotional core and she has excellently delivered the role of Usha Mehta in this movie. He additionally asserted a few lines about the significance of radio as a medium to inform, engage and entertain the masses, highlighting its crucial role in encouraging discourse.
In ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’, the female character, Usha Mehta, is trained by Ram Manohar Lohia, a political leader and an activist in the Indian independence movement. Ram Manohar Lohia’s role will be played by Emraan Hashmi. Co-producer of the movie, Apurva Mehta, commented that this movie is a riveting tale of courage, sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering devotion to one’s country— a story that the team is honoured to share with audiences worldwide. He additionally talked about the film partnership with Prime Video. He praised Sara for her passionate acting while working under the skilful guidance of Kannan Iyer.
Sara Ali Khan has another upcoming comedy thriller movie project directed by Homi Adajania, titled, ‘Murder Mubarak’. The cast of this film includes Bollywood stars like Karisma Kapoor, Vijay Varma, Dimple Kapadia, and Pankaj Tripathi, and it is all set to release on March 15, 2024. With this, Sara has two back-to-back films coming up next month, and we are in for a treat. In addition, it is also reported that the actress has also signed up for a movie project with Tiger Shroff.
