Indian-Based U.S. Envoy’s Participation in G-20 Forum
According to the report of PTI (Press Trust of India), Dr. Geeta Rao is set to visit India from August 1 to August 8 to attend the G-20 Ministerial Conference held on Women’s Empowerment across the nation and the globe. During this period, she has decided to meet and greet her Indian fellow mates with a clear purpose to accentuate and proceed with the Biden administration’s of gender equality policy priorities in India and around the world during the full-week visit and stay in this country.
From the report of the U.S. State Department’s official release, Dr. Geeta Rao set off her visit from Gujrat and will be the spearhead of the American delegation to the G-20 Alliance for Empowerment and Progression of World’s Economic Presentation (G20 EMPOWER) Conference. Along with that, she is going to attend the G20 Ministerial Conference on Women’s Empowerment, the office release stated on Tuesday.
The end of her visit to India ends on the 8th of August with two stops each at Mumbai & Bengaluru. Dr. Geeta Rao is the fourth Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues in the U.S. Department of State and the first woman of color to hold this position, she will be present in Mumbai on August 5 and August 6, where Ms. Geeta will engage herself in crucial discussions with the representatives from private sector and civil society of the nation.
All of these discussions would be centered around and geared toward the importance, understanding, and shaping of gender equality priorities, the State Department further added. Major topics held during the conference include topics aimed to prevent gender-based problems in the near future. Those topics are namely enhancing women’s economic security by addressing the methodical or standardized obstacles that hamper the opportunities for women to equally participate in the economy while shrinking the gender digital gap.
G-20 or Group of Twenty is a pre-eminent forum for International economic cooperation. G-20 is significant in carrying out the role of shaping and strengthening global architecture and governance on all major economic issues such as international financial stability, and climate change mitigation & sustainable development. It is a transnational forum of 19 countries including the European Union (EU).
It is composed of the world’s largest economies’ finance ministries including both industrialized and developing nations. Due to the rise in the issues related to the world economy and other such major issues, The G20 came into existence in 1999. India holds supervision of G20 starting from the 1st of December, 2022 to the 30th of November 2023.
With concluding her India visit in Bengaluru, accompanied and assisted by the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for South & Central Asian Affairs, Nancy Izzo Jackson, is going to deliver the salient lines at the WEConnect International Pacific Conference on the 7th of August. While Dr.Geeta’s stay in Bengaluru city, she reserved plans to encounter influential leaders and representatives from civil society organizations & try to align efforts to advocate the rights and empowerment of Indian as well as global women.
