Filmfare Awards 2024: Alia Bhatt, Rani Mukerji Win Big
With the launch of the 69th edition of Filmfare Awards last weekend, Bollywood’s award season also kickstarted for 2024. The 69th Filmfare Awards ceremony took place in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. In the event, Bollywood celebrity couple, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt both bagged the leading award honors this year. While the husband, actor Ranbir Kapoor received the Best Actor award for his amazing performance in the movie ‘Animal,’ wife Alia Bhatt took home the Best Actress award for her stellar performance in the movie ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.’
The movie ‘Animal’ secured a total of six honors. Animal is an Indian movie released in the year 2023. The Hindi-language movie is directed and edited by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. He was also in charge of writing the screenplay along with Pranay Reddy Vanga and Saurabh Gupta. This action drama movie is produced by Bhushan Kumar, and Murad Khetani under the label T-Series Films, Bhadrakali Pictures, and Cine1 Studios. The cast of the film includes Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, and Tripti Dimri as the lead cast. The movie is about a violent man who learns about an assassination attempt on his estranged father and sets out on a dark path of revenge and destruction.
On the other hand Vidhy Vinod Chopra’s ‘12th Fail’ bagged some of the biggest trophies of the Award show night. Coming to the Critics category, Vikrant Massey received the Best Actor award for his acting in ‘12th Fail.’ 12th Fail is an Indian biographical film released on 27th October 2023. This Hindi-language drama film written, produced, and directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is purely based on the non-fiction, eponymous book written by Anurag Pathak in 2019. The story is based on the real-life story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who after overcoming obstacles and extreme poverty becomes an Indian Police Service officer. The movie stars Vikrant Massey in the lead role alongside Medha Shankar, Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Priyanshu Chatterjee.
Actor Shefali Shah and Rani Mukherjee shared the Best Actress Award in the Critics Section for their performance in the movies ‘Three Of Us’ and ‘Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway’ respectively. Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway is an Indian movie released in 2023. This Hindi-language legal drama written and directed by Ashima Chibber follows Debika, who lives in Stavanger with her husband Aniruddha, son Shubh, and five-month-old daughter Suchi. The film stars Rani Mukerji, Anirban Bhattacharya, Neena Gupta, and Jim Sarbh. The movie is inspired by a real-life story of an Indian couple whose children were taken by Norwegian authorities in 2011. The movie was theatrically released on 17 March 2023.
Vicky Kaushal was another one of the actors who got nominated for the category ‘Best Actor’ for his role in the movie Sam Bahadur. He ended up winning the Best Supporting Actor award for his spectacular performance in the film ‘Dunki.’ Dunki is a 2023 Indian film directed and edited by Rajkumar Hirani. This is a Hindi-language comedy-drama film based on the ‘donkey flight,’ an illegal immigration technique. The screenplay was written by Abhijat Joshi, Kanika Dhillon, and Rajkumar Hirani. The movie was produced under the ‘Red Chillies Entertainment’ label sponsored by Jio Studios and Rajkumar Hirani Films. The movie stars Shah Rukh Khan, Tapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, and Boman Irani.
The prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Filmmaker David Dhawan. Aditya Rawal won the ‘Best Debut Male Actor’ for his role in the movie Faraaz. Meanwhile, Alizeh Agnihotri won the ‘Best Debut Female’ actor award for her performance in Farrey.
The 69th edition of the Filmfare Awards with Gujarat Tourism took place in GIFT City, Gujarat. The event was hosted by Karan Johar, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Maneish Paul. The show witnessed a star-studded night walking on the dazzling red carpet with breathtaking appearances and performances along with inspiring winning moments.
Actors took home the prestigious black lady with their stellar performances. The black lady is the epitome of credibility and success in the realm of Indian cinema.
