Vamika, Akaay, Raha: Bollywood Celeb Kids’ Most Unusual Names
Indian star batter, Virat Kohli and his wife, Bollywood diva, Anushka Sharma announced the birth of their second child on Tuesday. The baby was born on February 15, and the name of the child is unique and more unusual than expected. The celebrity couple who had their first child, daughter Vamika who is three years old at present, in 2021, have now named their second child Akaay. Akaay is a term in the Hindi language, which is also of Turkish origin. In Sanskrit, Akaay means anything or something that is without the kaay (form or body). Originally, this word was taken from the word ‘Kaaya’ which means body. People on social media also refer to this name as the Hindu deity Shiva since Lord Shiva is said to be formless or Nirakaar.
Coming to Vamika, Vamika is the name associated with Goddess Durga. Vamika is considered to be an epithet of Goddess Durga. The name originates from Vamadeva, the preserving aspect of lord Shiva. Goddess Durga is also considered to be the other half of Lord Shiva. Vamika was born to Anushka and Virat in January 2021.
Raha: Daughter of Alia Bhatt & Ranbir Kapoor
According to the post shared by Raha’s mother, Alia Bhatt, on her Instagram handle, Raha is rooted in multiple origins and shares several meanings. ‘Joy’ in Swahili, ‘Clan’ in Sanskrit, ‘Comfort’ in Bengali, and ‘Peace’ in Arabic, Raha is a polysemic name with an aesthetic ring to it. Alia further added that Raha in its purest form means divine path and it also means happiness, freedom, and bliss.
AbRam: Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s son
Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri’s youngest son AbRam was born in 2013. Shah Rukh mentioned that the name is of Hebrew origins but the actor added a secular twist by stylising it with a capital R for Lord Ram. During an interaction with the media back in 2013, he said, “AbRam is a Jewish connotation of Hazrat Ibrahim, so I think it is a good mix. … It sounds very nice with the name of Hindu god Ram in it.”
Misha: Daughter of Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput
Misha, as you can guess, is the combination of Shahid Kapoor and Misha Rajput itself. Misha was born in August 2016. The gender-neutral is said to have stemmed from Hebrew roots and the name translates to ‘who resembles God.’
Adira: Daughter of Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra
Just like Misha, Adira is also a combination of the names Aditya and Rani, respectively. Adira is a name rooted in the Hebrew language and it means ‘Strong, noble, and powerful.’

In mythology, Vayu is the master of breath, the spiritual father of Lord Hanuman, Bheem, and Madhav, and the incredibly powerful lord of wind. Taimur & Jeh: Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s Kids
When asked about the meaning and how the couple arrived at that moniker, Kareena Kapoor said, “The day before I was going to the hospital for delivery, I had a talk with Saif and he was suggesting to keep his name, Faiz, he said, ‘Bebo, that is a more poetic, more romantic name’. Malti Marie: Daughter of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas
Nick and Priyanka paid tribute to their mothers with their daughter’s name. Malti, which is from the Sanskrit language and Marie which is of Latin origin make the amalgamation of Malti Marie which is the name of Nick-Priyanka’s daughter. Malti translates to small fragrant flower or moonlight in Sanskrit and Marie which translates to star of the sea taken from the Latin term stella maris.
