Virat and Anushka Welcomes Their Second Child Akaay
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli announce the birth of their son and Vamika’s little brother Akaay.
Ex-captain of the Indian Cricket Team, the star batter Virat Kohli and his wife, B-town’s bubbly actress, Anushka Sharma on Tuesday, 20th of February, 2024, announced the birth of their second child, a baby boy, named Akaay. The sports star took to his Instagram handle to make this huge announcement and requested his fans and followers for privacy during this moment. Additionally, in the official statements released by both their social media accounts, the couple Virat and Anushka announced that the baby boy was born on the 15th of February. The pair requested privacy from their fans and media presently.
The Indian batting star posted an Instagram post that read the announcement of the birth of the baby boy and Vamika’s little brother, Akaay, into this world. In the end, the couple, Virat and Anushka, asked for everyone’s blessings and good wishes from their end.
The huge announcement by Virat Kohli explains the ‘personal reason’ behind his absence from cricket. Expected to step into parenthood for the second time, Kohli withdrew from the Indian cricket team lineup for the first two tests against England. He pulled out of the game just three days before the inaugural match of the Test Series, which was set to happen in Hyderabad.
According to the BCCI official release, Kohli had discussed this matter prior with the Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma and the team management regarding his drop from the Test Series where he significantly pointed out that despite playing for his nation being a priority, certain matters require his undivided attention and his full participation. Rajat Patidar was appointed as his replacement in the test series match.
Virat Kohli’s absence explained
The growing suspicions around his sudden dropping out of the match expanded each day and Kohli himself distanced himself away from the social media as well. Amidst this, AB de Villiers had briefly hinted on his YouTube channel that the cricketer (Kohli) has been spending his time with his family as he is most likely expecting a second child to which the crowd breathed a sigh of relief that everything was going well and good with Kohli and his family. To put an end to the discussion, BCCI announced that the former captain would not be taking part in any ongoing Test series.
The birth of Vamika
With the birth of their daughter Vamika on the 11th of January 2021, the couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma stepped into parenthood for the first time. The ex-captain who was playing the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, taking place in Australia, flew back to his nation to spend time with his wife before the due date of the baby.
Ajinkya Rahane took over the captaincy under his absence and led team India to one of the greatest Test series wins of all time. This matter was completely different from the last time as the pair had publicly announced the pregnancy long before the birth of Vamika while in this case, the couple had maintained it a secret all along.
The couple tied the knot back on the 11th of December, 2017. Recently, Virat and Anushka celebrated their daughter, Vamika’s third birthday in January. The pair had always been cautious of their kid as they had frequently requested media to maintain privacy when it came to their child. The couple had officially requested to maintain privacy which the paparazzi responded positively.
In the year 2021, due to a sudden incident, the broadcasters showcased baby Vamika’s photo on the screen during India’s Tour to South Africa. The couple were greatly disappointed by the same fact and expressed it to the viewers. Later on, Vamika’s face was strictly kept away from the limelight and it is believed that baby Akaay would also follow the same path as her sister, Vamika.
